Our Mission is to provide and promote Christian Science nursing care, embracing an individual’s reliance on Christian Science for healing.
Our Christian Science Nurse – Paula Brensinger
Paula is our full-time visiting Christian Science nurse. Paula is a fourth generation Christian Scientist. She grew up in Massachusetts, and moved to New Hampshire in 1998 with her husband, Glenn, where they now live in Newport. She took her training at Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association, and graduated in May of 2015. She remained on the Christian Science nursing staff there until August 2016. For five years, Paula divided her time between her New Hampshire home and Chestnut Hill BA, until she was called to serve in the New Hampshire field. Of this opportunity, she says, “I look forward to supporting my fellow man, relying on Christian Science for healing, in the private sanctuary of home, where the pilgrim can find heaven and the stranger discovers they are the guest of God.”
Background of the Service
Christian Science Nurse Service of New Hampshire evolved to offer exclusively visiting Christian Science nurse services starting in 1992. Earlier organizations offered home aid services initially and then both home aid services and visiting Christian Science nurse services.
Eventually demand grew to the point where a full-time nurse was necessary. For many years, Pat Cameron, was our full-time visiting nurse, and finally Paula joined us in September 2016. We also use on-call Christian Science nurses to provide relief to our full-time nurse, so we can offer 24×7 services throughout the year.
Less than 20% of the funds for the service come from the nursing fees. The rest comes from individual contributions from people in the region, from our investments, funded by our contributors, and from grants from foundations.
The Christian Science Nurse’s Authority
The authority for Christian Science nursing is established in the Manual of The Mother Church. You can read it in the right sidebar.
