Resources: Nurse Lifeline coming soon

Nursing Times has collected information on a series of free virtual courses and resources that are relevant to the Covid-19: Are You OK? campaign and being offered by a variety of organisations, unions and charities.

The new charity Nurse Lifeline has the stated aim of improving mental and emotional wellbeing by fostering a positive, empowered community through peer-support.

The initiative, which has only been underway since 2019 and Nursing Times first wrote about in August last year, is being developed “by nurses and midwives, for nurses and midwives”.

Its stated aim is to set up a peer-led phone service that will provide opportunities for those in need to receive support without judgement, from those who may be able to relate.

At present, Nurse Lifeline has a website with information on its mission, history and team, but is yet to start providing routine support services while it seeks funding to get going. Watch this space.

Those behind the initiative are Natalie Greening, its chair and a critical care nurse and RAF medical reservist, and Keira Dovey, co-founder and secretary and a former emergency and critical care nurse.

Its ambition is to eventually provide a free, 24 hour, peer-led phone service to nursing and midwifery colleagues within the UK.

Currently, you can find valuable information and links to other key services on the charity’s resources page, in addition to positive and uplifting stories on its blog page.
