▶ Nursing Times Digital Forum: Virtual reality as a teaching tool

This panel discussion was first broadcast live at the Nursing Times Digital Forum on 4 October 2022.

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the use of technology in all sectors, with some deployment having brought some surprisingly exciting results.

Here our panel of nurse educators discusses the use of enhanced virtual reality as an educational tool, enabling students to learn in virtually simulated settings and placements.

Speakers:

  • Chair: Steve Ford, editor, Nursing Times
  • Professor Jane Perry, dean, University of East London
  • Abbie Green, assistant professor simulation (health), Coventry University's School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health
  • Aby Mitchell, senior lecturer adult nursing, University of West London

This panel discussion formed part of day one at the first-ever Nursing Times Digital Forum on 4 October 2022.

The virtual event took place for the first time on 4 and 5 October, featuring two mornings of interactive speaker sessions, case studies and panel discussions.

Led by chief nurses, chief nursing information officers and clinical leaders across the NHS, the forum was designed to inspire and support all nurses and midwives to be proactively involved in the digital transformation of acute and community settings.
